The Characteristics of the Zodiac Sign of Libra

July 21, 2010 in Zodiac

The seventh sign in the zodiac is Libra. Those born between the dates of September 23rd and October 22nd have this as their sun sign. It is symbolized by the Scales due to the balanced and tolerant natures of the people who bear the sign. Famous celebrities include actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (and her husband, Michael Douglas), Will Smith, Naomi Watts and Tommy Lee.

Virgos are considerate, courteous, agreeable and charismatic. Understandably, they have little problem gaining friends. Their sense of harmony makes them a good team player and they strive to make their team the victorious one. They tend to be a peacemaker since tranquility is their ideal work environment. Hostility, pressure and discord are upsetting to their balanced nature. They try not to participate in arguments, let alone start them, and will quickly mediate or compromise to ensure peace.

Libras are not good at being supervisors due to their indecisiveness. They can have as hard of a time deciding which brand of milk to buy as to what employees to fire. It is much better for them to be in a situation where they can monitor fairness. They also have an appreciation of the arts, especially music. If not particularly talented at performing, they will have a keen interest and knowledge.

Good manners are highly regarded by the Libra. They will not behave in a vulgar or coarse way and expect the same of those around them. Those traits stand in direct opposition to that harmony and balance they hold so dear. It is also a deep concern to give off the “right” impression.

Approval is very important since Libras are creature’s dependant on relationships. They see the partnership as being a part of them. There is a tendency to put their partner’s wants and needs above and beyond their own. A Libra will be stable in any relationship, whether it is deserving of that level of dedication or not. But the Libra isn’t very good at showing their attachment to their mate. Because of all of that harmony and balance, they don’t have or show strong emotions, preferring to “feel” with their head rather than their heart.

The Libra partner will not have dramatic scenes or silent moodiness. If pushed to the point of anger, they will resent having been put in that situation. Problems with the relationship need to be spelled out to the Libra in a logical fashion and with a concession that it is at least partially their lover’s fault. They are likely to respond in a way that discusses the relationship as if it were a theoretical debate by listing the pros, cons and possible solutions in a clear, calm way.

Emotions can be brought out in the Libra but it will take time, effort and trust. They are not known for being weak and vulnerability doesn’t come naturally to them. But they do enjoy other people’s company and can flourish under the influence of the right mate. And it is hard to find a more reasonable person to be around.
