I know people who are into astrology, some who have had their palms read and fortunes told, but nobody really believe fortune cookies.
If the Indians somehow manage to not only repeat their surprise success of 2011, but also improve upon it in 2012, there may be a few believers in Cleveland.
Recently Indians manager Manny Acta went to a P.F. Chang’s for dinner and when he opened his post-meal fortune cookie, it had an oddly specific message.
“Your sports team will be very successful this year.”
Acta said he doesn’t even believe in luck, much less a fortune cookie, according to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian. However, Acta didn’t tempt fate. He kept the fortunate and had it framed.
I’m just wondering if with all the teams in the Phoenix area, the waitstaff at P.F. Chang’s had those specially made up and keep them on hand when the recognize their diners right before they leave a tip.
Or maybe they just ran out of the “Your team will lose 100 games and you’ll be fired by the All-Star break” cookies.
Sure, desserts aren’t always right — but they’re so sweet.
