All these fans vanished when TV channel based in the south played video footage that allegedly features Swami Nityananda in bed with Tamil actress Ranjitha.
Immediately after a news channel exposed Nityananda’s alleged romp with Tamil actress Ranjitha, a team of forest officials raided his Bidadi ashram and seized around 60 kg of sandalwood pellets.

Even the likes of Gujarat CM Narendra Modi, Karnataka CM B S Yeddyurappa, state excise minister Katta Subramanya Naidu along with several MLAs from states neighbouring Karnataka, who once frequented the ashram keeping away from the swami and his ashram to avoid controversy.

“Narendra Modi was seen here more than once and so was Excise Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and Chief Minister B S B S Yeddyurappa,” said a source. He added that Swami Nityananda was closely associated with several prominent seers, including Bal Gangadhar Swami.

However, it is not only politicians who were attracted in the past. “Celebrities like Sudeep, Tara, Bharati Vishnuvardhan and Ambarish are his devotees,” the source said. “Tara had been to the ashram earlier. Even Bharathi Vishnuvardhan and Ambarish were regulars.

Interestingly, the cops had received the tip-off from Sharath Babu, a herpetologist, who works as honorary warden with the forest department. Just days before the sex-tape was made public, Babu had visited the ashram to rescue a snake. That’s when he sensed something awry and informed the cops.

There are rumours that he’s in Mysore, while some say that he has gone to attend Kumbh Mela.

Well, seems like nothing going right for Run Away Swami and last word came from Dr V S Acharya, home minister of Karnataka, who finally announced yesterday that the land on which the ashram stands is of the government and was meant for cattle grazing farm. He said, he finally asked the deputy commissioner to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

When contacted, Chief Wildlife Warden B K Singh refused to comment on this issue.

The Delhi Police arrested a self-styled guru, who was running a big prostitution racket, involving the air-hostesses, college students and housewives in New Delhi.

The sex guru was identified as Shiv Murat Dwivedi. He along with six women were arrested in South Delhi. Of the six arrested, two are working with airlines and one is a management student.

Known as ‘Ichchhadhari Sant Swami Bhimanand’ alias ‘Sant Swami Bhimanand Ji Maharaj Chitrakoot Wale’, Dwivedi was previously arrested in 1997 in Lajpat Nagar area on allegations of running an illegal massage parlour.

The 39-year-old Dwivedi was arrested, while trying to negotiate a deal with a group of young boys near PVR Saket in South Delhi. Shiv Murat Dwivedi hails from Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh.

Imagine this self styled godman cum Sadhu cum pimp cum blackmailer started his career as a security guard at a five-star hotel at Nehru Place in 1988. Later, he himself worked for a massage parlour where he came in contact with pimps. That changed his life forever and he landed in the prostitution racket.

During the raid at Dwivedi’s ashram near Mehrauli, the police unearthed tunnels that led into rooms. The police also seized a Honda City and Honda Civic Car from Dwivedi. He reportedly made a business of over Rs 2,000 crore and holds properties across the city.

Dwivedi had more than one lakh devotees, including top businessmen, politicians and many other influential people in the society. The temple he built in Khanpur had CCTV cameras and tunnels. He was recently building a private hospital and a temple on a 20-acre plot in Chitrakoot.
Also learnt that Bhim Anand has clients and high-end contacts not only in India but in Las Vegas in the US also, police said today.

”The ‘baba’ apparently has clients and contacts not only in India but also in Las Vegas. It has been known that he was taking classes to learn English also,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) H G S Dhaliwal said.

He told mediapersons that police came to know about this from six diaries, seized at the time of his arrest.

”The diaries reveal the names of 100 high-profile policemen, politicians and bureaucrats, besides prostitutes,” he said.

The ‘baba’ also allegedly possessed different mobile numbers. ”We are checking his call details,” the DCP said.

Sources said Dwivedi used to earn daily in lakhs. It has been learnt that cash worth crores has been lying in his name in various bank accounts.

Investigation was on to know about his other involvements.

Asked whether MCOCA would be invoked against the godman, Delhi Commissioner of Police Y S Dadwal said, ”If police will get any substantial evidence, a decision regarding MCOCA will be taken.”

Superstitions, such as astrology, can never satisfy the longings of the human heart, says Sydney’s Anglican Archbishop Peter Jensen.

Speaking to the congregation at St Andrews Cathedral on Christmas morning, he said recent polling showed Australians were religious and still looking for an answer on the purpose of life.

‘But many of the answers are superstitious, such as astrology,’ he said.

‘Superstition can never satisfy the longings of the human heart and they cannot mend our brokenness. We have broken relationships, broken hearts, broken bodies.

‘At the centre of our being we need the perfect relationship with the living God who has made us and when we cut him out of our lives we continue to be restless and lack peace.’

The archbishop said other people claiming to be unbelievers or atheists were insisting they wanted to live according to ‘the truth’.

‘Superstition will not satisfy them because it is not based on the truth.

‘Again, those who seek for truth and insist on the highest standards of truth are to be commended.

‘I want to say to both groups that there is an answer to their questions and end point to their search.

‘I want to say that good news has entered the world with the birth of Jesus Christ and that he is the truth.’

If you have examined your astrology chart at all you are probably
familiar with the idea that the horoscope chart is divided into
twelve houses. The next twelve articles in this series deal with
the different wedge shaped” pieces of the pie” known as the houses
so it would be a good idea to have a chart handy. The meanings of
the houses were also discussed thoroughly in a previous newsletter.

The First House is located between the 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm position
in your chart. It reveals the sign that was ascending at the moment
you were born. This is your house of first impressions and the
personality that you wear in front of other people. It describes
the way you dress, the way you move, your modes of self-
expression, the overall condition of your health and your physical
body.

Your major character traits are also assigned to you by the planets
that happen to be in the first house as is determined by the signs
that they rule. For instance if you have Mars as a planet in your
first house then you will have the traits of the sign of Aries,
Neptune the traits of the sign of Pisces and so forth.

If you have the sun in your First House then you would have the

What’s the Significance of Navratri?
During Navaratri, we invoke the energy aspect of God in the form of the universal mother, commonly referred to as “Durga,” which literally means the remover of miseries of life. She is also referred to as “Devi” (goddess) or “Shakti” (energy or power). It is this energy, which helps God to proceed with the work of creation, preservation and destruction. In other words, you can say that God is motionless, absolutely changeless, and the Divine Mother Durga, does everything. Why Worship the Mother Goddess?

The number nine is closely associated with the process of Creation in the cosmic time cycle. It is considered puran or complete. Any number multiplied by nine gives a figure that adds up to nine. Ratri means night. The Rigveda states that creation came about when everything was covered in the darkness of night. Navratra signifies the concept of ‘Back to Godhead’ Nav means nine and Ratri means night. These nine nights occur on equinoxes when the sun is vertically overhead at the equator. The Cosmic Mother is worshipped during these 9 days. The number nine is closely associated with the process of Creation in the cosmic time cycle. It is considered puran or complete. Well, it is the nine days when we are suppose to thank the female principle of nature and the goddesses connected to them. As the agricultural communities had free time only in the evenings (days being too busy with manual labour in the fields), evenings and nights were chosen as the ideal times to celebrate the festival of the goddesses. In brief, the nine nights are dedicated to the three main goddesses of Hinduism—Parvati, Lakshmi and Saraswati. The first three nights are dedicated to the goddess of action and energy. Her different manifestations viz Kumari, Parvati and Kali are worshipped during these days. They represent the three natures or classes of womanhood—the virgin young girl, auspicious wife or mother and the angry old hag! This is not a criticism of women, just a classification. It helps us recognise the different aspects of our own nature. Lakshmi is worshipped for the next three days in her various aspects as the goddesses of peace, plenty and bliss. Fulfilment is more important than wealth itself. As the goddess of wealth, she governs not just the bank balance, but also such basic things as family, friends, food etc. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge. Not just the knowledge of how to earn a living, but how to ‘live’ as well. She is the goddess of the spiritual knowledge and the knowledge that frees us from this bind of Samsara. She is worshipped during the final three days of the Navratri. The nine nights are there for us to revel in the knowledge of the goddesses that live within us, imbibing us with their spiritual energy and power. Used for the good, they help liberate us from the mire of this world. Use these energies unwisely, and they will snare us in the maya of this world. LONDON: British authorities are cracking down on the many ‘tantriks’, ‘babas’ and psychics who prey on the fears and desires of the Asian community by promising them remedies, everlasting love and good fortune. Most of these you can see selling there fake remedies to US clients via ZEE TV or other media channels.

Most newspapers published in Indian languages here carry hundreds of advertisements from such individuals, promising ‘100% guarantee’ of love and riches, or promising to cure cancer and lift curses. The soothsayers industry is said to be worth £40 million every year.

Now, authorities in the town of Leicester, better known as ‘Little India’, have announced a campaign against such ‘babas’ and ‘tantriks’, most of whom have origins in the Indian sub-continent.

Deputy mayor Manjula Sood said: “I have heard of people being asked for £500 and more for prayers or talismans. They think a curse will be placed on them if they refuse. One recently came to Leicester and took a room at a hotel where she charged clients £500 for 10-minute sessions.”

Resham Singh Sandhu, chairman of the Sikh Welfare and Cultural Society, said the Sikh community was lobbying with newspapers to stop publishing advertisements from such people.
